Get Outside - Move Your Body

We are so busy sometimes that we forgot to take a moment to get outside in nature and just breathe, slow things down and just be still. As humans we have the need to be constantly doing something with our days and if we don’t we feel guilty for that. the human body needs rest, physical and mental rest. It allows us to recharge and feel fresh to think better about situations.

Getting outside, whether that’s in the sun, a walk in the rain in nature, a walk with friends, saying yes to meeting up for a coffee with a friend, doing a hobby or movement like running, yoga, cycling or just stretching.
All of this slows your nervous system down and allows your body to get out of the fight mode and gets you into the ‘rest and digest’ stage. To focus on something other than what your worrying about or the tasks you have got to do!

Spice Things Up

Incorporating spices into your diet which have a warming effect on the body have been shown in Chinese medicine to help soothe the gut lining and ease discomfort. Including any damp in the body to soothe and help with pain. Spices like Cinnamon, Matcha, Cacao, Ginger and Turmeric.

Eat Fermented Foods

Eating foods which have been fermented have probiotic effects and help diversify the gut with healthy good bacteria when the gut is especially out of balance. This helps to decrease inflammation as they hold millions of good microbes after the fermentation process. These include: Kimchi, Kombucha, Kefir, Yogurt and Sauerkraut. This can work better for people than probiotic pills as this is natural process in these foods, where as people can have bad side effects or no effects at all, as you can take the wrong ones as they are so many that work for certain issues.

Try An Overnight 12 hour Fast

Your body takes on a lot of stress with different eating times maybe when your working or eating late and not eating for a long time. Every time you eat your body is trying to process that food and digest it in your intestines. For example, eating your last meal earlier in the night and giving yourself a full 12 hour rest whilst sleeping and in the morning giving your body time to just rest and not be overworking trying to process food all the time.

After a fast, starting your day with something healthy possibly protein can help to repair your gut lining instead of reaching for sugary foods or carbs first which can cause your glucose to spike.

Only try this in a healthy way, for benefits for your gut health in mind.

Get Some Sleep

We under estimate the importance of getting enough sleep. It helps our bodies to unwind and reset for the next day and what’s a head of us. All your energy gets recharged from you getting your head down. If you don’t get enough sleep your body doesn’t have the energy to heal your gut this takes more stress and strain on your body to do this as well as your day to day working life.
Take the hint and get some sleep!

De-Stress Your Mind

Stress is one of the biggest problem with gut health. This is called the mind and body connection. When your mind and brain is to over stressed so is your gut. Have you ever realised when your stressed or upset how your stomach can hurt, may feel sick, you might get bloating or pain. Your body flares up and works in the fight or flight mode, which means your body think your in a very stressful situation and is overworking to keep you alive and working.
Try to deduce your stress by doing meditation, going for a walk, deep breathing, reading or anything you find that calms you down.
