Getting into a healthy Routine
I am going to be sharing many posts like this as part of my health journey with you - tips that really do work for me and hopefully can help you too.
Healthy mindset = Happy body
Let's talk about health, fitness and wellbeing. In our days now, the trend of health and fitness is growing more and more each month to year. But is it time for change. To actually prioritise our health and wellbeing from the inside out.
Just to clear things up, its not all about how you look but more about who we truly feel on the inside and letting that portray on the outside.
Everyone has a different body (this is true) so don't find yourself trying to be like someone else or get so caught up in obsessing over being a 'perfect image'.
Only draw your attention to how YOU FEEL.
For someone like myself who suffers day to day with stomach and gut issues which can effect your whole day, I know the importance of being healthy on the inside as everything really does start with your gut.
The reason why we often say 'trust your gut' , ' your gut knows'.
Which I also want to share when I find what has truly helped and worked for me in healing my gut, as I know there are so so many people out there suffering with the same issues as myself.
Although there are certain steps and little things I do which really help with getting myself into a healthy place.
1. Motivation
Including myself, I know during the winter especially we tend to hid away, in big sweaters, hoodies and sweatpants. Although I still love doing this, I can get so caught up staying indoors, laying on my bed and not having nay motivation within me at all.
So, to start with:
- Lists: one of my favourite things is to write lists and things I want to do for the day, week or even things I know I need to change. There's something about writing what's in my head down on paper that makes me more motivated to do it and not procrastinate.
- Positivity: the biggest difference I noticed was when I surrounded myself with fun and positive people. and before you say it, I know that this is always talked about and may sound a little 'cheesy' but just try it.
When I started to spend more time with people I knew are full of life and I would have a good time with, this then changed how I would feel and made me a happier person.
2. Take Time To Detach!!!
Take some time out of your day to leave your phone, laptop, anything you feel attached to or realise is causing your stress. Instead spend more time with your family, your loved ones. We very often take our family for granted (which I find myself also doing). But truly taking a step back and to think about the ones around you who are there for you. Feel grateful that you have them by your side.
You can also do this by showing you care. It may sound silly but leaving a little message for someone on a post stick note to make them smile.
Give someone a complement, getting someone favourite things when there sick, actually smiling and saying hello or good morning when you are out in the streets or shopping. This is a big one for me as many people walk with there head down to avoid making eye contact with others.
3. Get Out/Move
Another one you might hear all the time, but again it is said because its true!
Getting yourself outside in nature or around other people will lift your energy up dramatically.
Not to mention the Yoga/Pilates world right now!
It goes without saying that its not just a trend but can really work to just relax your whole body + mind. Just allowing yourself time throughout the day or night to work on switching on your mind and focus on moving your body in a gentle way. As we all know our working days can cause us so much stress ( including those men), therefore don't feel bad to take a little time for yourself to unwind. Play that music!
4. Know your food
Get cooking and making your own food! Know exactly where the food is coming from and what's in your meals. Although this doesn't mean going the extreme of being crazy strict with your food choices, as we all love a stress-free meal out or a pizza and wine night in. Just making the healthy choices of enjoying being in the kitchen using fresh ingredients to create your own dish. Grab inspiration from anywhere you wish (Pinterest, Cook Books) and get creative.
5. Follow inspiring people (social accounts / body positivity)
Its so easy to get caught on our phone scrolling through social media and constantly comparing ourselves to other people online. In some cases this can be a good thing, that's if your following the right kind of people.
Pay attention to the accounts your following who make you feel down or self conscious. This is important as we need to learn to start loving our own self & bodies for who we are!
We cant change who we were born to be, therefor learn to love and accept instead!
A few of my favourites are:
- Steph Claire Smith
- Harmony Abell
- Mollie Bylett
That’s a few ways for getting yourself back into healthy routine and a better mind set. Just remember to fuel your body, get outside, get human connect (not just our phones/laptops). Leave any comments on how you feel your best - mentally and physically.
